Driving from the North...

Travel southbound on Toll Expressway A1 towards "LISBOA".  Near the city of "LEIRIA", follow directions to access the A8.  Continue southbound on A8 towards "LISBOA".  (toll will be approx €4,20)  Exit number 18 is "C.RAINHA / F.ARELHO".  At the roundabout follow "FOZ DO ARELHO".  Travel ~6km and see "Arriving" section below.

Driving from the East...

From expressway A1, you can exit onto the A15 in the direction of "RIO MAIOR / CALDAS DA RAINHA".  Stay on the A15 to the end, and exit onto the A8 "LEIRIA".  Just a km or two before the exit you will have to pay your toll for the A15.  Cost of the toll will depend where you entered. (approx 40km between A1 and A8.)  Once on the A8 (no toll on this section of expressway), travel just a few minutes and watch for exit number 18 "C.RAINHA / F.ARELHO".  At the roundabout follow "FOZ DO ARELHO".  Travel ~6km and see "Arriving" section below.

Driving from Lisbon...(approx 95km from Lisbon Airport to Suites Ermelinda)

option A) Travel northbound on Toll Expressway A1 towards "PORTO".  Take exit number 5 "AVEIRAS / ALCOENTRE" (toll is €2,05).  Proceed to the roundabout and follow signs for "N366 ALCOENTRE / N115 CALDAS DA RAINHA".  This is a regional toll-free road.  During the 35km drive (I find it to be quite pleasant!) you will pass a few roundabouts and make a few turns, just keep following "CALDAS DA RAINHA".  As you arrive into the city of CALDAS follow signs for "FOZ DO ARELHO" or "F.ARELHO".  If you miss the first one, don't worry, there are others... the final one being the original road linking Caldas and Foz which starts at the bronze statue of the "Queen".  Travel ~8km and see "Arriving" section below.

option B) Travel northbound on expressway A8 OESTE (toll is €4,35) towards "LEIRIA / LOURES".  Exit number 18 is "C. RAINHA / F. ARELHO".  At the roundabout follow "FOZ DO ARELHO".  Travel ~6km and see "Arriving" section below.

Arriving into the town of Foz do Arelho...

As you arrive into our town you are on the main road Rua Francisco Almeida Grandela.  Pass over the first cobblestone speed bump.  Keep going until you reach the 2nd cobblestone bump.  Rua Direita is the street immediately to your left and our 3 story building is easily visible from here, also on your left.  But Rua Direita is a oneway road and you must therefore "circle around the block".  A few meters further ahead, follow the road branching to your left in front of Café 5000 and Restaurant Pateo Távola. (By the way, great place to eat!)   At the end of this road, turn left again.  You are now be at an intersection in front of "Café SOPA DOCE".  You will see a street sign on your left with the name Rua Cruzeiro, but no sign for Rua Direita.  Turn left again here onto the street running along the left side of the Café.  You are now on Rua Direita.  Come up the road and you will find our apartment building on your right side.  There is plenty of parking in this vicinity, if not in front of the building, then on the main road Rua Grandela.  If you want to get a feel for the town and see the the beautiful beach and Atlantic ocean before doing anything else, just stay on the main road (Rua F. A. Grandela) for another 2km.
